The American Prospect covers Ideas, Politics and Power, delivering insightful commentary and investigative reporting to millions of readers. It’s dedicated to “promoting informed discussion on public policy from a progressive perspective”.
Now, the Prospect has deployed CRUX’s Knowledge Tracker technology to inspire its politically savvy readers to develop a deeper understanding of the topics it covers. The technology - integrated with the support of Metro Publisher a CMS provider for magazines - encourages online readers to dig into the topics they are reading about by seeing their knowledge build up; they get personalized recommendations for articles to help them discover more.
Major impact on user engagement
The Prospect has also deployed CRUX innovative Knowledge Hub, a dashboard posting their scores across all topics. The hub prompts readers to navigate directly to more knowledge rich articles, including articles within the Prospect’s deep archive.
Within just three months from deployment, the Prospect saw a meaningful engagement increase. Weekly article reads went up by more than 14 percent across the entire readership of the website. Readers who interacted directly with the Knowledge Tracker have read more than five times the number of articles than the Prospect’s average site visitor.
Ellen J. Meany, the Prospect’s publisher, said “Our goal here is to share all there is to know about the topics we write about, and CRUX offers a great tool to ensure we can achieve that. We love seeing our readers increase their interaction with our stories through CRUX’s innovative technology.”
