Yesterday, our service experienced two temporary outages. The first outage, affecting some client Metro Publisher work sites, occurred at approximately 11 a.m. (EDT). The second outage occurred later in the day at around 2 p.m. (EDT) and affected some public sites.
In both cases, our development team worked immediately to correct the issue and restore service with minimal downtime.
The outages were due to a slowdown in the Amazon S3 service in the Eastern U.S. region which caused a cascade within our systems, disabling the admin and partially degrading the public sites.
We have identified the root cause of the cascade and have already started implementing changes to reduce any potential disruption from slowdown in the Amazon S3 service in the future.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
